Dates to Remember

These dates are not all inclusive and are not meant to address all material dates. Please call our office with any questions. If a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, typically the due date falls on the next business day.

Business Dates:

Monthly

  • 15th: 941 EFTPS payroll tax deposit, for monthly depositors
  • 20th: File Sales Tax returns

January 31

  • Furnish Forms 1098, 1099 and W-2G to recipients for certain payments
  • Furnish Form W-2 to employees
  • File Forms 940 and 944
  • File Form 941 and State Unemployment returns

March 15

  • Corporations: File Form 1120 and pay any tax due. For automatic 6-month extension, file Form 7004 and deposit estimated tax
  • S Corporations: File Form 1120S. Furnish a copy of Sch. K-1 to each shareholder. File Form 2553 to elect S Corporation status beginning with calendar year (if applicable)
  • Partnerships: File Form 1065 and furnish a copy of Sch. K-1 to each partner
  • Electing Large Partnerships: File Form 1065 calendar year return
  • Electing Large Partnerships: Furnish Sch. K-1 (Form 1065-B) to each partner

April 15

  • Household Employers: File Sch. H with Form 1040 if you paid $1,700 or more to a household employee
  • Corporations: Deposit the first installment of your estimated tax for current year

April 30

  • File Form 941 and State Unemployment returns

May 15

  • Non-Profit Organizations: File Form 990. For automatic 6-month extension, file Form 8868

July 31

  • File Form 941 and State Unemployment returns

September 15

  • Partnerships: File Form 1065, if you timely requested a 6-month extension
  • Corporations: File Form 1120 or 1120S, if you timely requested a 6-month extension

October 31

  • File Form 941 and State Unemployment returns

Other Dates:

  • SEP IRA: You can set up a SEP for a year as late as the due date (including extensions) of your business income tax return for the year you want to establish the plan
  • SIMPLE IRA: You can set up a SIMPLE IRA plan effective on any date from January 1 through October 1 of a year for the current tax year
  • 401K: You can set up a 401(k) by December 31st of the calendar year. One exception is the establishment of a Safe Harbor 401(k); this plan can be made effective on any date from January 1 through October 1 of a calendar year

January 15

  • 4th Quarter (previous calendar year) Estimated Tax Payment Due

April 15

  • Individual Tax Returns Due for Previous Tax Year
  • Individual Tax Return Extension Form Due for Previous Tax Year
  • 1st Quarter of Current Calendar Year Estimated Tax Payment Due
  • Last Day to make an IRA Contribution for previous calendar year

June 15

  • 2nd Quarter Current Calendar Year Estimated Tax Payment Due

September 15

  • 3rd Quarter Current Calendar Year Estimated Tax Payment Due

October 15

  • Extended Individual Tax Returns Due
  • Last Chance to Recharacterize Last Calendar Year Roth IRA Conversion
